We are talking about GRADE SCHOOLS HERE right? Obviously, this is NOT for preschools. The preschool who added this previous comment is just out to promote the PRE-SChool. Hello.

Hi, do you know how to go to Keys grade school from Edsa? Are there jeepneys passing through that place?

Hi,

I am also scouting for preschools with tuition of 20K or less. Do you know good schools within my budget?

Thanks in advance.

Sad to say, from my experience, there are no progressive grade schools. Only progressive preschools. These "progressive grade schools" may hint or show a little of the progressive method but they still have lots of homework, they have grades class cards, they teach subjects traditionally, the kids still need tutorials and they have quarterly exams. Ask them.

To the one who commented "Sad to say, from my experience, there are no progressive grade schools...". I don't think you know much about the difference between progressive schools and traditional schools. Of course, they have homeworks and classcards in progressive schools. The difference is the "method of teaching". In progressive schools, kids are encouraged to be "pro-active" and "expressive". Kids are not "suppressed" like in traditional schools. In traditional schools (I went to a Catholic one), kids are taught to sit down and listen and only speak up when asked or pointed out by the teacher. In progressive schools, kids can "actively participate". Progressive schools are also open to accepting kids with "social" or "learning (NOT intellectual)" challenges. Examples of "SOCIAL challenges" are ADHD and autism. Tradtional schools are not open to accepting kids with that SOCIAL challenge. Both cases are SOCIAL challenges NOT intellectual challenges. Sad to say, a lot of Filipinos are not aware of this. Some of the most successful people in teh world today have overcome ADHD and autism. Those are some of the differences between progressive and traditional schools. Believe me, there are progressive grade schools. My daughter happens to go to one, which is a progressive international school. I like the fact that she does not look at her friends or classmates in her school who have ADHD or autism are "kids with challenges". She simply relates to them as "people" or "friends" or "classmates". And I am very happy about that. And also being in an international school, she does not label people for the color of their skin. She simply sees them as people. However, if there is a "drawback" to progressive schools (if you wish to call it a "drawback") is that the tuition fee costs a lot more than traditional schools. BUT the good thing is class sizes are typically small, as in 15 students, which means the child gets maximum attention and teaching from the teachers compared to a school that has a lower tuition feel but has 30 or 40 students. Do the math and you'll realize the value of the cost.

Like every other mother, i also want the best school for my son.

I was choosing between Collegio de san lorenzo and Lilliput academy.

i researched about traditional school and progressive school. both have pros and cons. but i like the idea of progressive and they also offered singapore math which is really nice.

i enrolled my son at lilliput academy and i am hoping what they say is true "we can make your 3 year old read in 3 months" because my son is still having a hard time recognizing letters and sounds.

goodluck to us mommies.

To anonymous who posted on June 5, 2012, I think that progressive mommies would not worry about reading at the age of 3 to 5. During the preschool years, I would want my child to learn how to play and get along with teachers and classmates. This is a time for learning routines and following instructions in a fun yet organized environment. At 5, the letter sounds may be introduced together with the idea of blending sounds. At 6, the regular child can learn to read phrases, sentences and short books. It is at 7 to 8 years old that we should be concerned when our child is not reading like the others in his or her class.
When my daughter was in a traditional preschool, the teacher said that my 4 year old child did not like to write. I moved her to a progressive school the next year. Now she is in college and taking up creative writing.

i have been doing a lot of research/inquiry as to which school is the best for my son after he failed the grade 1 entrance exams of two supposedly good schools in quezon city. I was told he might have some learning difficulties - i forgot the term used. i am considering progressive schools but i am afraid they might not also answer the needs of my son. please help find one other than Multiple Intelligence and Paref Northridge as we have already made inquiries there. can anyone please help me find one good progressive school?
