Clean House

One of my favorite tv shows is Clean House aired on QTV). It's amazing how Niecy Nash and her gang turn a cluttered home into an organized and beautiful one. They come up with the money to redecorate the house by having a garage sale of the old stuff owned by the home owners. Sometimes, it's such a struggle for the owners to let go of their old stuff. I understand that because I do get attached to my things. Talk about sentimental value.

I hope they can come to our house and have it redecorated. I always wanted to have a wall sconce added to our walls for a touch of elegance. I always want to have our walls painted with earth tones.

Music Phone

Music makes me relax especially when I have to travel long distances. However, I don't like bringing all those techie gadgets with me. My sister suggested I download music and save it in my cellphone. But my cellphone does not have enough memory. Well, I found an answer to my problem. Buying an SD card will help expand the memory of my phone so that I can download my favorite songs. I love Lady Gaga's songs!

Music Monday - Wind Beneath My Wings

I was watching Net 25's cooking show hosted by Janice de Belen. She asked her guest Leah Salonga a song she can dedicate to her mom. The multi-awarded singer mentioned Wind Beneath My Wings. This is truly a beautiful song and I couldn't agree more.

Finding a Hobby

I always complained about being bored in life. A friend said I needed a hobby. Some suggest I should try painting, drawing, belly dancing, or yoga.

I can try something I haven't tried before. I can also try something that can be used to make me more productive. I can make time for hobbies that can be considered fat burners. What scares me most is for my my growth to become stagnant now that I am a parent. Let me quote this from a fellow mommy, a happy and and fulfilled mom makes a good parent.

You Complete Me

Before I met you, selfishness was my number one trait. My mom called me stubborn, my friends think I was self-centered. I was able to do things I wanted but there's always something lacking. But when I met you, my life revolved around you. I forgot about myself and I lived to see you smile. Thank you Dwight for coming into my life. Son, you complete me.

General Maintenance of Your Home

We have been living in our family house for 15 years now. Because there are more addition to the family, my dad is making sure that the house is maintained well. Some parts of it has been repaired and renovated. Lately, he mentioned that we need to get a new furnace filter. He wanted to install a filter that can help reduce exposure to particles. A clean air inside the house is priceless especially if there are children living with you.

I Am A Cool Mommy

There's a lot of interesting personality quizzes on blogthings but very few about parenting. I found one that would determine whether I am a cool parent or not. I think I am and the result of the test agree with that.

You Will Be a Cool Parent

You seem to naturally know a lot about parenting, and you know what kids need.

You can tell when it's time to let kids off the hook, and when it's time to lay down the law.

While your parenting is modern and hip, it's not over the top.

You know that there's nothing cool about a parent who acts like a teenager... or a drill sergeant!

Skin Care

They say when a woman's age reach 25, the skin finds it harder to regenerate. I am way past that age so I am looking for the best anti wrinkle cream. There's a lot of anti wrinkle creams in the market but some branded ones are very expensive. Some cost a hundred of dollars. I have been reading wrinkle cream reviews so that I can find a cream that works and is affordable at the same time.

When I get older, it will be good to hear compliments that I look a lot younger than my biological age. That is because I have been taking care of myself.

Manila Ocean Park

Dwight and his classmates had their field trip today. It's his first time to go to Manila Ocean Park.

Here are some the pictures:

After that the children witnessed how doughnuts are made at Krispy Kreme (SM Mall of Asia Branch). They designed their own doughnuts. Then, we went to Fully Booked Bookstore at the Global City in Taguig. We had a blast! It was such a wonderful experience for the parents/guardians and the children.

*I will be posting more of Dwight's pics at the Manila Ocean Park on my succeeding posts.

My Cool Grandma

My grandmother on my dad's side suffered from a skin disease known as atopic dermatitis or eczema. She crossed my mind because she's going to be celebrating her birthday soon. The eczema was something she found embarrassing because a lot of people notice the spot where the eczema is. She had that skin condition for quite a while.

But a few months ago, I saw her at the Christening of one of my cousins. The said skin condition seem to have disappeared. According to her she finally discovered the eczema treatment that worked for her. After that, we had a long chit chat about the things that were going on in my life. She's still the same cool grandma that everyone in the family loves a lot.

Weight Loss Pills - Is it BFAD Approved?

There's a lot of weight loss pills advertised in the Philippines. As a consumer, I think it's our responsibility to see if the products we are buying is BFAD approved. Even if the product is advertised to be effective, if what you got is a fake one, then it won't give you your desired results. If you find our that what you bough is fake, as a responsible citizen, this should be reported to the right authorities.

On Disciplining Kids

Having two kids inside the house can be such a headache. A lot of times, it feels like I need a migraine relief. There are instances that I cannot help but to raise my voice for them to stop doing something bad. But I try to avoid that because I know that it's wrong to be yelling at kids. As a parent, we should calmly point out that they have done is wrong and how it can be corrected. Usually, I used reward and punishment to reinforce what they need to do.

Getting Back in Shape After Pregnancy

My sister (Baby Tyra's mom), who gave birth last September has been trying to get back in shape. I think it helps a lot that she's breastfeeding Baby Tyra and that she has been eating healthy food. But one thing she cannot do is exercising regularly because she is taking care of Baby Tyra all the time. She wanted to know what is the best weight loss pill in the market today. I told her that when she visits her doctor, she should ask for an advice on when she can start taking weight loss pills. From what I know, she can take weight loss pills after the lactating period is over.

Keep Your WiFi Signal to Yourself

I have been using Smartbro Fixed Wireless Broadband for more than two years. But right now, there's an ongoing renovation at home. I am forced to use the wireless USB which is a prepaid connection. I think I end up paying more because I stay online a lot. An unlimited subscription is a better choice for me.

I am currently looking into my options. Is WiFi connection good? I learned that there are paints that can block WiFi signals so that you can confine the signals within the corners of your house. Does this work like emi shielding? I am still learning how the thing works. Based on my research, the paint is fairly cheap. It contains aluminum oxide that can block both incoming and outgoing wifi signals.

Matchbox

Whenever we go to the mall, Dwight asks me to buy him toys. He have a penchant for toy cars. I think kids are programmed early on to choose cars if they are boys, and dolls if they are girls. But when I was a kid, I prefer to play with toy cars than dolls. My mom has to insist I play with Barbie dolls. Maybe I am just a little weird.

Now that I am a grown up, how about I collect real cars? I wish I can afford that. haha I am just so in love with Ferrari cars and I keep looking online for Ferrari parts and accessories. At the moment, I think I just have to content myself playing with Dwight's matchbox set.

Music Monday - A Song For Mama (Boyz II Men)

I must admit, I had my rebellious days. When I became a parent, I learned to appreciate my parents more. I came to understand why there at times they can be so overprotective. Here's one of my favorite songs, A Song For Mama by Boyz II Men.

A Song For Mama
You taught me everything
And everything you've given me
I always keep it inside
You're the driving force in my life, yeah

There isn't anything
Or anyone I can be
And it just wouldn't feel right
If I didn't have you by my side

You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You'll always be you always will be the girl
In my life for all times

[Chorus: ]
Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul

You're always down for me
Have always been around for me even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong
Yes you did

And you took up for me
When everyone was downin' me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on

There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You'll always be
You will always be the girl in my life

Wrapped in a Towel

We really enjoy taking pictures of the kiddos. What you can see above is a picture of Baby Tyra wrapped in a towel. That shot was taken after she was given a bath. You can see that she enjoys sucking her fingers (all of it, not just the thumb).

My sister and I were talking about what these kids would want to become when they grow up. My sister wish that Baby Tyra will become an equestrienne like the famous Mikee Conjuangco. I think Tyra will look fab wearing girl breeches. But whatever their wishes and aspirations are, we'll be here to support them.

Christmas '09

Dwight was so happy to receive a lot of presents last Christmas. Here's a picture of him having a difficult time unwrapping the gifts. Why the frown Dwight? You are supposed to be smiling.

Upon seeing what's inside the box, I saw a smile in his face. Too bad the camera ran out of battery. I notice that his favorite jacket no longer fits him well. Next year, I think I would give him a Nascar jacket for kids. I am pretty sure Dwight has a memorable Christmas last year. As a mom, it's my job to make it more memorable for him next Christmas.

Mobile Applications

The main reason I visit Facebook is to harvest and plant on Farmville. I am a self-confessed Farmville addict! On the contrary, I am not very familiar with other applications on Facebook. I am aware that you can check by phone the updates of your friends but I do not have any idea how it works.

The other thing I want to learn is how to upload pictures on my Facebook using my Nokia phone. It's a good thing we can now easily search the how-to's online. I think I just have to download a mobile application.

Baby Tyra is Turning 4-Month Old

This month, Baby Tyra will be turning 4-month old. She's becoming more responsive. She's always sucking her fingers. She giggles a lot but she can be moody too. I am glad that Dwight is so fond of her. Sometimes, I feel a hint of jealousy on his part but most of the time, he shows that he cares a lot for Baby Tyra. We are having fun dressing her up in her cute little dresses.

On the other hand, it's back to school time for Dwight. He was so excited to see his teachers and classmates at Pail and Shovel.

Thank You Google

During the holidays, I wasn't able to go online as much as I wanted to. But hey, it was the holidays, I would rather mingle with my family and friends that spend time online. It was a nice break from the blogosphere.

When I got back online, I learned that a Google Pagerank update took place on New Year's Eve (correct me if I am wrong with that information). Anyway, my Parenting Notes blog jumped from PR0 to PR2. Thanks a lot Google!

My babies enjoyed the holiday. But Tyra got scared with the sound of all those fireworks on New Year's Eve. I should be uploading new pictures of them soon.

This year, I hope the Lord bless me with more patience. Those kiddos can be a headache sometimes. But when they smile, they easily melt my heart and I am angry no more.
