Bubble Maker

Dwight has a battery-operated bubble maker. It's his favorite toy at the moment. So, imagine how sticky appliances at home become whenever he plays with it. I can see that it's fun playing with the automatic bubble maker. However, it would always run out of batteries because he uses it a lot. I hope he'll get tired of that toy soon.

Well, that's how he is. When he likes something, he so into it. But when he gets tired of it, then he'll forget that it even became his favorite at one point. I guess some kids are really like that.

Handy Tools For Dad

My dad loves doing carpentry around the house. My mom said that dad made their first bed. I rarely give gifts to my dad. Whenever we ask him what he wants for his birthday, he would say that we should spend our money on our needs rather than buying something for him. So, next time, I won't ask him anymore what he wants so as not to ruin the element of surprise. I am thinking of giving him handy tools that he can use for his favorite hobby. I am going to give him a carpentry tool kit that includes clamps, pliers, screw drivers, saw, chisels, hammer, mallet and many others.

General Cleaning

After the Holy Week, I am going to do a general cleaning. I want to get rid of the clutter in our house, scrub the floor, and throw away stuff that I do not need. The sentimental side of me wants to keep a lot of stuff hidden in my boxes even though I do not really need them. This time, I should let go of old papers, pamphlets, tokens and other stuff hidden there for ages.

Another thing I want to do is make the bedroom squeaky clean. My goal it to scrub the floor, clean the windows and make the room look brand new. I would need work gloves for that so that.

Normally, I don't really bother myself if the house is clean or not. To have a new start and a brighter outlook in life, I will begin with making the house clean.

Pocketful of Kids Summer Workshops

It's Summertime! My son is somewhat disappointed that I cannot enroll him in the McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop. It's because they accept only kids from 6 to 12 years old. But I told him, there are other summer activities where I can enroll him. For instance, here's the schedule of Pocketful of Kids Summer Workshops 2010:

Plasma TV

We moved in to our new apartment few months ago. The appliances are not yet complete. It's hard to start all over again after a calamity. It can be financially draining. One of the things I wish we can buy soon is a big plasma tv, and of course, I would also need a tv stand. There are several plasma tv stands at the mall at a very affordable price. They must be having pre-summer sale. I would need to confirm that so I can go shopping soon!

Dwight Loves Tigers

Last week, I fulfilled my promise to my son. That I'm gonna get him a toy tiger. So, I brought him to the mall and let him pick what he wants. I let him take his time to choose a stuffed toy. I didn't see a sign that some of the items were sold on discounted price. So, when they doublechecked the price with their barcode scanners, it turns out that the item is sold at 30% off its orginal price. What a lucky day!

HIV in the Philippines

Although, Philippines is a low-HIV-prevalence country, the incidence of HIV has been increasing as compared to previous years. The increase is among homosexual men, and it's more prevalent among those who are in their 20's.

Even though what you'd get is not as severe as HIV, you can still be infected with STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) caused by viruses such as herpes simplex virus 2. For those who are sexually active, always practice safe sex. Loyalty to one's partner also decreases the chances to being infected with STD. Of course, being informed and educated about this topic can serve as an eye opener.

Parenting Notes SEO-ed

I would really feel happy if I found "Parenting Notes" on the first pages of google search results whenever someone searches for keywords related to parenting and motherhood. But that would take a lot of hardwork. The top sites usually have more knowledge about Search Engine Optimization hence, their sites are more popular.

I know basic stuff about SEO, but I still have to learn more about it to gain success like other top sites do. For those who want an easy way, there's always seo optimization softwarethat can be a great help.

Getting Ready for the Big Day

Tomorrow will be Dwight's Nursery Graduation. I am very proud of him. He loves his school and he's always looking forward to go to his classes. It's a good decision that I enrolled him in a progressive school. Because of the low student-teacher ratio, their teachers can focus more on each individual student. I can't believe my baby is growing up really fast. Next school year, he will be in Kinder I class. Congratulations Dwight!

Shifting Schedule

I experienced having a job that has a shifting schedule. When there's a transition in the schedule, it's really difficult to adjust and make your body clock adjust to a new schedule assigned to you. During these times, most of my team mates would lose sleep and complain about headaches. Some would even complain about not being able to sleep for days because their body clocks are still used to the old schedule.

So even when they have a chance to get some sleep, they are not able to do so. When its time to go to work, that's when they feel really sleepy. This would show because of the big eyebags and dark circles around the eyes. We would often say that we need to invest in best under eye cream so that we maintain a fresh appearance. I hate having a tired look on my face, because I feel that it makes me look old.

Nina Dobrev

My last post was about The Hunger Games. To answer the question on "Who should play the role of Katniss Everdeen?", my top choice is Nina Dobrev. If you watch The Vampire Diaries, then you should be familiar with her.

According to the book, Katniss has straight black hair, tanned complexion and gray eyes. Nina has the sun-tanned look which makes her perfect for the role of Katniss.

There's something about tanned flawless complexion that makes the person look beautiful. When it comes to preference, I admire tanned beauties with clear skin.

Sometimes, with all the stressors around us, it's hard to achieve a blemish-free face. But worry not, stick with the effective acne cream and you'll surely have a flawless skin. I envy people that have flawless skin because even with minimal or no make up they can still look pretty.

The Hunger Games

A few weeks ago, I borrowed a book from my friend entitled "The Hunger Games." I haven't read a book in a long time so I decided to rekindle my love for reading.

The Hunger Games (by Suzanne Collins) is categorized as a young-adult novel. Reading the book is like watching an amazing adventure. From what I heard, it will be adapted into a movie. Will this be the next Twilight Saga?

For those who are thinking, who would play the lead role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, check out this video.

Growing Old Gracefully

A few years from now, I will be turning 3-0! It felt just a while ago when I dreaded turning 20. But we cannot stop time, can't we? But then again, age is but a number. It's how you take care of yourself and how you mature emotionally, mentally and psychologically that matters more.

As I grow older, I learn to not sweat the small stuff. I no longer stress myself over small stuff that does not matter. Life is too short to be angry. Also, on the physical level, I make sure I get enough rest and I exercise regularly. I moisturize my face and I do use anti-wrinkle cream. Wrinkle filler helps! It's not being vain. Even though I am getting older, I try to make myself look neat and presentable.

Bedtime Stories

Before my son would go to sleep, he would beg me to tell him stories. It must be what you call the Twilight era because he's very interested with vampire stories. But I try to divert his attention to stories which would give him lessons on how to be a good kid.

I use his stuffed toys as characters in the stories I tell him. I explain to him the consequence of the actions with do, how it affects our well-being and the people around us. I love the look in his eyes whenever I tell him stories. He seems to be very interested. Before he close his eyes to go to sleep, he would pray and thank God that he has a mom like me. Sweet!

Dwight's Ultimate Wish

Dwight's ultimate wish is for me to bring him to the most beautiful theme park in the world. Well, where exactly is the most beautiful theme park in the world? I think among the top picks will be Disney World. Besides if you go to an Orlando vacation, aside from having a fun time at Disney World, you also have an option to see must-see tourist attractions such as Sea World and Universal Studios.

Body Shaper

After giving birth, I was not able to wear my pre-pregnancy clothes right away because of the unwanted bulges and curves at the wrong places. My mother advised me to wear a girdle. The first one that I bought was too uncomfortable for me. While browsing online, I learned about kymaro body shaper. With the 2-piece body shaper, you'd be able to put on those dresses that you are too self-conscious to wear before.

Car Safety For Kids

What a big difference it makes when you have a child! I became less selfish. The safety of my child is no. one on my list. Finally, I understand why my mom kept a very watchful eye on us. As much as possible, she does not want us out of her sight. When I was a kid, I found that annoying sometimes because it gives me less freedom to do the (mischievous) thing I want to try.

It may sound silly, but a lot of times, I wish I can just give him all the stuff he needs and just stay inside the house to prevent anything bad that can happen to him. But accidents can happen anywhere so that kind of thinking seems pretty unreasonable.

When we go out, I make sure that his seatbelt is fastened even if he's on the backseat. It's my dad that does the driving for us when we go out. He's equally protective of his grandkids so he drives extra carefully when the kids are around.

My son has a thing for cars. One time, he noticed the tail lights of the car and suggested my dad should have a more unique kind. At his young age, he was thinking of custom tail lights. This gave me an idea what to give my dad for his next birthday. What else but custom tail lights! So while looking online for that I came across CarID.com. Actually, you can call them your one-stop shop for car accessories. They have a great line of LED and Euro Style tail lights. Custom tail lights give you improved lighting at the back of your car. I am pretty sure, this is something that my father will appreciate. So, I am saving up for this, just in time for his birthday a few months from now.
